Geopolitical Focus – January 2024: Rebuilding Trust

About 2800 people will descend upon Davos for the WEF 2024 under the theme 'Rebuilding Trust.' It seems that after COVID and climate change, the narrative of the 'Great Reset' must change due to a lack of results. Therefore, AI becomes the next focus for a reset.

LONDON — More than 60 heads of state and government and hundreds of business leaders are coming to Switzerland to discuss the biggest global challenges during the World Economic Forum's annual gathering next week, ranging from Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The likes of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and many others will descend on the Alpine ski resort town of Davos on Jan. 15-19, organizers said Tuesday.

But the real star will be President Zelensky, the savior of the elite world. He will be asking for millions again, emphasizing his role in democracy. Surely, the elites will keep him on the pedestal for a little while longer. It would be a disaster if they failed in another global calculation. As a start, he will have a special audience as he invited the world to his peace conference (without Russia), aiming to convince them that he has utilized all the money and ammunition, and now Russia needs to retreat for the sake of saving face. He seems to think it is still 2014, and so do the US war mongers, including the latest, Nikki Haley, who believes Putin is already in Spain. Regarding the sanctions, most companies in Russia undergo changes in ownership. Have you ever heard the term 'onshoring' or 'friend-shoring'?"

Just about 350 international companies have completed their exits from Russia, a tracker from the Kyiv School of Economics shows. Another 1,606 international firms are continuing operations as usual, while 1,741 foreign firms are in various stages of pausing their investments or operation in Russia.

And just in, while we all are informed about Russian atrocities with regime critics, nobody knows about the Zelinsky barbarian? Insurrectionists, defined by the Media?

On May 8, 2023, we reported on the scandalous arrest of American blogger Gonzalo Lira – now he is dead. The reason for the arrest was a video in which Gonzalo Lira criticized the Ukrainian regime.

For sure, McKinsey won't be missing out; I bet they will secure a record number of consulting gigs, both on the government and private sector sides. The global domain seems poised to benefit McKinsey the most, all in the name of democracy and the elites.

So, what is the WEF really? Is it another UN conference, a mingling among equals and like-minded individuals, a serious global problem solver, or just an organized networking party for the pockets of its master, Klaus Schwab, and the President of the WEF, Borge Brende, the failed politician?"

In October 2014, Brende – in his capacity as Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) – co-hosted the Cairo Conference on Palestine, an international donor conference on reconstructing the Gaza Strip, which garnered $5.4 billion in pledges.[9]

The foundation is mostly funded
: by its 1,000 member multi-national companies.[6]

The WEF is mostly known for its annual meeting at the end of January in Davos, a mountain resort in the eastern Alps region of Switzerland. The meeting brings together some 3,000 paying members and selected participants – among whom are investors, business leaders, political leaders, economists, celebrities and journalists – for up to five days to discuss global issues across 500 sessions.

Think about it, much like the EU – It is non elected “officials” who determine the democracy of the World..

The NATO complex recently welcomed Finland and Sweden amid growing concerns about the global Russian threat. The narrative of an "imminent" Russian assault, fueled by Western media, has become a focal point, especially as Zelensky seeks additional funding. Notably, Finland is testing a wall along its 1300-km border with Russia, a response to economic challenges caused by Biden's sanctions. Meanwhile, Sweden is advising its citizens to prepare for the worst. It raises questions about Russia's motivations, considering the absence of resources in Sweden or Finland that they lack and whether, akin to the situation in Ukraine, it revolves around the discomfort of having US missiles stationed on another border.

Martial border fence

Nothing has remained of the former statesmanlike wisdom since the takeover of power by politicians who have forgotten history, such as Sanna Marin, who was voted out of office in June 2023 and celebrated internationally in the media. Since joining NATO in April 2023, Finland has pursued an aggressive policy against Russia politically and in the media, while at the same time allowing itself to be militarily instrumentalized by the United States. The war in Ukraine serves as a hook. Economically, Finland is suffering massively from its rigorous boycott measures against Russia, which mainly harm its own industry. This is because it has purchased extensive imports, such as chemicals for the paper industry, from its eastern neighbour. The Finnish state-owned railway company VR Group has been banned from passenger trains and freight trains in traffic with Russia. The state-of-the-art tilting trains for the route from Helsinki to St. Petersburg, which were procured jointly with Russia in the Karelian Trains joint venture, have so far rusted away in Finland.

Finland is suffering massively from the rigorous boycott measures against Russia.

It remains largely hidden from the West that the Finns have begun to erect a martial border fence with Russia. The height is four meters, and on top of that there are two rolls of barbed wire. In September, a three-kilometre-long "test fence" was completed near Imatra at a cost of six million euros. In addition to the actual fence, the structure also includes electronic surveillance and a road for customs and military that runs along the fence. The Finns have decided to place this monstrosity along the Russian border for an initial length of two hundred kilometers.

Far more significant is the bilateral Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) negotiated between Finland and the United States, which was signed in Washington on 18 December. This means that the permanent presence of the US military in Finland directly on the Russian border has been decided, as well as the stationing of US military equipment. The deployment of nuclear weapons is not prohibited in the DCA Treaty. The only thing that stands in the way of this is a previous Finnish provision against the storage of nuclear weapons.

Swedish defense officials’ warning to brace for war as the nation nears NATO membership has prompted some panic and caused supplies to fly off shelves, according to reports.

"For a nation for whom peace has been a pleasant companion for almost 210 years, the idea that it is an immoveable constant is conveniently close at hand," Swedish Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin said at Folk och Försvars, or "Society and Defense," annual national conference in Sälen on Sunday.

Simultaneously, Biden's support for Iran is contributing to heightened tensions in the Middle East. The lack of a clear plan or strategic vision is akin to the impact a leader without direction would have on a small company, raising questions about his role as a global leader. The surge in crude prices is notably benefiting Russia and Iran, despite concerns about the funds reaching the Ayatollah. Additionally, the U.S. bombing of targets, while condemning Houthi attacks, lacks legitimacy under international law, as there is no UN Security Council resolution or authorization for such military action.

"All American and British interests have become legitimate targets for the Yemeni armed forces in response to the aggression,” said a statement from the Supreme Political Council of the Houthis, which controls the capital San’a and swaths of territory.”

And we all thought the US converted Iraq into a democracy, so why are our people still there?

Looking ahead, the US might find itself with the UK and Israel as its primary allies. The recent uptick in oil prices could potentially benefit the war parties, and there are concerns about the US entertaining ambitions to initiate a global conflict. However, it remains uncertain if Taiwan and Japan share the same perspective, as they likely prefer peaceful solutions unless the US faces challenges in the realm of resources, such as the supply of chips.

Government shutdown averted, but at what cost for the Democratic party ? Is the new generation of Democrats so ideological that it raises the question of renaming them "Dementor-crats," taking ideology to defy any logic . Their hatred for Elon Musk and Trump runs so deep that they end up contradicting themselves. There is no question that the budget deficit now requires immediate action —not more taxes that suppress overall spending, but policies that fuel economic growth and increase tax revenue. Immigration : With border crossings at near-zero levels , we now have an opportunity to implement a merit-based immigration system to attract the skilled labor needed to support reshoring efforts. While it may not reduce the overall number of immigrants, it would shift budgets—moving from dependency to immediate economic contribution. The skilled labor gap is a documented reality —there is no denying it. The Teachers Union continues to claim it's helping everyone, yet it’s failing to educate children. Anger over budget cuts distracts from years of waste, and most states arguably perform better. The U.S. education system is currently ranked #31 globally , yet—like many Democrats—the union blames everyone else for its failures. Despite ranking #1 in per-pupil spending , the system cannot deliver the diversity and choice families want. So, who are we listening to—parents or unions ?

Tariffs, Dogecoin, and the Popper Paradox: Navigating Trade, Tolerance and much more in 2025

Timothy Snyder is an American historian specializing in the history of Central and Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, and the Holocaust. His most recent analysis displays that " Hate" is not a good advisor . But if you checked the Democratic representation during the Joint session of Congress , their body language suggested otherwise. As long as the Democrats are represented by "Dinosaurs" like Sanders, Waters, and Pelosi, even their strongest strategists may face challenges. James Carville , who is often outspoken, is shifting in rhetoric. Meanwhile, even a well-placed analyst will not change the overall impression . Her family farm was part of Hygrade Meat Company, founded by her great-grandfather Samuel Slotkin, who emigrated from Minsk in 1900. Hygrade was the original company behind Ball Park Franks , now owned by Tyson Foods . Chris Murphy commented via MoveOn.org but offered no solutions. Mary Trump , a psychologist, has long been a staunch critic of her uncle, frequently warning of the risks he poses. She said she was traumatized by his 2016 election win, fearing that he was uniquely ill-qualified to govern in a crisis. Let's follow all legal challenges for now. The Supreme Court has addressed the USAID ruling . Ultimately, the government will need to navigate these legal hurdles. Imagine: The endgame could be avoiding a Russia–BRICS alliance and instead fostering a Russia–US alliance, which could change the landscape of global peace. Given Russia and China's vast rare earth reserves, integration could be more beneficial than conflict. Gaza remains a focal point, and time will tell how the situation evolves. If diplomatic efforts succeed, we may see meaningful negotiations unfold in the near future.

Is Zelensky now running the world ? It appears so after his historic tantrum at the White House. Or is he merely a figure acting on behalf of the EU, Kaja Kallas, and European leaders (France, UK, Germany) to secure a seat at the table for “peace negotiations”? - Most likely, he is maneuvering to ensure continued EU support, including troops, while hoping that the EU convinces the Boltons of the US to send reinforcements as well. - Unfortunately for him, the US halted its advance in Berlin in 1945. Some on both sides may still be unhappy with that outcome. - Had Churchill and a real army continued, they could have pushed the Soviets back then. Note: The longer this conflict drags on, the only real losers are Ukraine and Europe. It's time for the US to explore trade agreements with Russia and South America. Accessing Russia via Alaska or Greenland remains an option. Should Europe be left to the Romans ? A Swiss newspaper featured an image of Mr. Murphy, who went on CNN after the meeting to ridicule JD and the President for their failure. Is he a traitor?
